(Lesson-6 The Clever Monkey)

Once upon a time there lived a monkey on the de bank of a river. Right in the middle of the river there was a small island with many fruit trees. Sweet and juicy fruits grew on the trees. At a distance from the bank, there was a huge rock in the river. A part of it was above water. One day, attracted by the delicious fruits, the monkey jumped to reach the rock and from there leapt onto the island.

“Not so difficult, after all”, he said to himself. Soon he was enjoying the sweet fruits from the trees. There was hardly any other animal there, so he was in no danger. Hence, the monkey decided to visit the island every day.

A. Answer the following questions: 1×3=3 demy

(i) Where did the monkey live ?

Ans : The monkey lived on the blank of a river.

(ii) Why was there no danger for the monkey on the river island ?

Ans : Because other than the monkey there was no animal.

(iii) What was so attractive to the monkey ?

Ans : The monkey got attracted by the delicious food.

Once there was a fox. He was thirsty. He went to a well. He tried to drink water. By chance, he fell into the well. He was sad.

A goat came there. She looked into the well. The fox said to her. The water is sweet. Please come in. The foolish goat believed him. She jumped into the well. The fox climbed up the goat. He came out of the well. The goat died there.

Moral : Look before you leap.
